About This Portfolio
My name is Mattie Solomon and I am a Senior English major and Professional Writing minor at the University of Maryland. The following portfolio is an overview of my year as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) for the course ENGL398A: Writing for the Arts. As someone who is passionate about spreading the importance of writing to all students, I have been lucky enough to work with two semesters worth of art students doing that exact thing.
This portfolio is a compilation of resources, documents and reflective essays from my time as an Undergraduate teaching Assistant for the course, 398A: Writing for the Arts. The Undergraduate Teaching Assistant course is an internship opportunity that pairs students with an instructor in the English department who teaches a writing course. I have been a UTA for the past two semesters, and prior to that, I was a student in the course that I now teach. Throughout my time being a student and a teacher for this course, the materials themselves have opened up to me in a way that I could have never expected. Let this portfolio therefore act as glimpse into my own experience as a UTA, and how that has affected me as a student and a teacher.
Enjoy!
